SRPT is pleased to announce the return of Sadie the Bereavement Therapy Dog to the Port Tobacco Courthouse during the Charles County Holiday Trail on December 6th from 12:00pm – 3:00pm. Sadie has made over 150 visits to businesses and events in the community sharing her story and gaining new friends. She is also the star of “Sadie & Sammy: A Tail of Love, Loss, and Friendship!” by Bill Dixon and Gail Manuel a children’s book that helps children understand grief and help them cope with their loss.
For those of you who haven’t met Sadie yet, she is an American Kennel Club black Labrador retriever who’s gentle, loving, and sweet disposition has enabled her to help comfort people who have lost a loved one. Bereavement therapy dogs are used to help ease the pain of loss simply by offering their compassion. Certified by Therapy Dogs International her job is to
“bring a smile to those who really need one, and to be a friend who helps them feel better, and hopefully feel a little less sad.”
Sadie is owned by Gail Manuel, Director of Trinity Memorial Gardens and Friendship Pet Memorial Park. We are thrilled to have them!
